Remarks

The substrate is a paper folio from a West-African Qur'an manuscript. The folio shown (f. 192b) is the final page of the codex, containing the end of the text and the colophon. The manuscript was once part of the Elphick collection and was purchased in Sidney, B.C. in 2009 from 'The Haunted Bookshop' (p. 142). The paper is likely hand-made or imported European paper common in the West African trade routes, though no watermarks are described in this section.
