Remarks

The study analyzed a corpus of approximately 180 Soninke Ajami manuscripts. Watermark analysis was used to establish chronology, revealing that 5% date to the late 18th century, 20% to the first half of the 19th century, and the majority to the mid-to-late 19th century (p. 202). The paper analysis specifically identified a preference for French and British papers over Italian ones in this regional context (p. 205).
