A hybrid paper material composed of a mixture of cellulose pulp, polyamide, polyester, and viscose fibres. The paper is double-side coated and further reinforced through a 'special impregnation' process (p. 83).

"Paper 3: Neobond (manufacturer: Neenah-Lahnstein Company, Germany) is a double-side coated fibre synthetic paper made from a mixture of selected pulp and synthetic fibres (polyamide – PA, polyester – PES and viscose – CV), reinforced with a special impregnation."

Remarks

Paper 3 displayed exceptionally high folding resistance; it did not break under a 2 kg load even after 5,000 double folds (p. 92). However, accelerated ageing (particularly dry-heat) had the highest influence on this paper's surface roughness (Ra), which increased from 4.77 um to 6.05 um after 12 days (p. 97). The environmental action caused oxidation of the coating layers, deteriorating the cohesion between filler particles and the polymer matrix (p. 17).
