A blank paper sheet, matching the size of the gathering, is adhered to the doublures (p. 85). A second, wider sheet is then applied with adhesive and folded around the spine-folds of the outer gatherings (p. 85).

Remarks

The instructions specify pasting blank folia only along the gutter/spine-fold to ensure they function as free endleaves rather than being fully adhered to the surface (p. 85).
