Remarks

This manuscript is a copy of the Mas̲navī-i Valadī produced in 1366 for Sharaf al-Dīn Sātī (p. 270, 271). The author identifies the use of silver illumination as a significant material property that suggests a production locale in eastern Rūm, possibly Erzincan, where Armenian or Ilkhanid artistic influences were present (p. 270). This technical choice contrasts with Mamluk manuscripts where silver illumination is extremely rare (p. 270). The production involved a Mawlawi scribe, Ḥasan ibn ʿUthmān al-Mawlawī, and possibly a Mawlawi binder (p. 271, 272).
