The mix of orpiment (arsenic sulfide mineral) and indigo (organic blue natural dye extracted from Indigophera plant) to produce shades of green was a procedure employed in the Islamic world in the 14th century (p. 119).
Evidence
"The first set, in the range 150–400 cm-1, consists of orpiment bands... The second set consists of Indigo bands at 545, 600 and 1588 cm-1."
Remarks
Identified on manuscript MEK-MS-3. This mixture was also popular in Florence during the 15th century as mentioned by Cennini (p. 119).
