Remarks

Ink (Al-Habr) is identified as a primary requirement for the copying process in Najd. Interestingly, the local terminology often conflated ink and paper under the general name 'Al-Qartas' (p. 88). Scribes and students were known to purchase ink as part of their essential materials (p. 91). The text suggests that the overall quality of the writing was sometimes hampered by 'weak copying' ('ضعف النسخ') in the later centuries (p. 92).
