The prayers were executed with a block print or die (tarsh) (p. 43). The paper amulet was reduced in size through the process of folding, the crease lines forming a lattice pattern (p. 43).

Remarks

This tiny ‘carry-on package’ most likely remained sealed shut within a lead case imprinted with surat al-Ikhlas (p. 43). The text includes legible Qur’anic verses and calls to God as the supreme intercessor (p. 43).
