Remarks
In Manuscript 1, the red pigment was definitively identified as red lead. Elemental mapping showed lead (Pb) corresponding to the red ink areas (p. 3). Small amounts of other elements detected in the red ink areas were attributed to contamination or the paper substrate (p. 4).
