The gold pigment is used to outline the muhaqqaq script and create a frieze of gold arabesques (p. 54). It is also used in four drop-shaped finials with stylised peony flowers decorating the margins (p. 55).

Remarks

Unique to this copy is the use of fluttering Chinese clouds in the background of the text block, which delicately balances the intense blue hues used as a backdrop for the outer frame (p. 55).
