Remarks

The anthology Ghurrat al-ṣabāḥ fī waṣf al-wujūh al-ṣibāḥ (The Shining Dawn: On the Description of Fair Faces) is discussed as a primary source, with the unique manuscript held at the British Library dated to May 1471 (p. 78). The work is organized into seventeen thematic chapters (p. 80), and Chapter 14, which focuses on 'Afflicted Limbs and Body Parts', spans approximately twenty-five folios and contains 160 poems (p. 80). The compiler, al-Badrī, was a professional copyist active in the Mamluk cities of Cairo and Damascus (p. 73, 75).
