The orpiment mineral is pulverized thoroughly in water, then dried out slowly. Arabic gum is added for adhesion. Water is added subsequently for dilution and to reach the desired concentration (p. 13).

"To build yellow color from orpiment mineral, orpiment should be pulverized well in water, and then dry it out slowly and add Arabic gum to it."

Remarks

Orpiment is classified into yellow and red types. Pure orpiment has high clarity and brightness. It is stable in air and light, unaffected by dilute acid or alkali, and only dissolves in strong acids (p. 13).
