Evidence
"The support is made up of numerous sheets of paper of various sizes joined horizontally. Large joints measuring about 1–1.5 centimeters seem to be part of the original conception of the scroll..."
Remarks
The scroll measures 35 cm in width and 615 cm in length (modern length 665 cm). Transmitted light revealed that section 17 (the sandal) has a different width than other pieces, and section 21 shows evidence of paper being torn out to excise the original pilgrim's name (p. 370, 376). The paper shows extensive loss in areas with green pigment due to corrosive degradation of the cellulose (p. 368).
