Remarks

The text describes the manufacture of astronomical or scientific instruments (spheres and tools) made of copper and plated with gold. This work was conducted under the direction of Radwan Efendi and executed by skilled craftsmen (أرباب الصنائع). The use of gold plating (طلاء بالذهب) reflects the material culture and decorative techniques of the 18th-century Ottoman Egyptian elite (p. 202).
