The manuscript contains over 250 folios with clusters of medical and culinary recipes. The author notes that recipes are distinguished by 'rubricated titles and readers’ marginal crosses' (p. 119). The numbering system 'seems to have been written in the same ink as the once red, now faded rubrication' used for titles (p. 119). Interestingly, the page numbers, 'apparently copied by the same hand in a much brighter red ink at the top of the folios', suggests the scribe returned to organize the codex at a later time (p. 121). Frequent changes in ink and script style indicate that copying occurred over a long period as the scribe encountered new exempla (p. 118).
