Manufactured locally at Persepolis and Susa (p. 67). Used for the construction of animal horns for column capitals (p. 66).

Evidence

"Fragments of the horns of animals belonging to column capitals made of Egyptian blue and found in Palace D, Persepolis (Figure 1)."

Remarks

The use of hieroglyphic signs on these fragments suggests the presence of Egyptian stonemasons or artisans involved in the manufacture of the pigment and the carving of the stone (p. 67).
