Remarks

The illuminated copy of Sulṭān Walad’s Dīvān dated to 1391 (Mevlana Müzesi, Konya, 75) contains medallions and headpieces that show stylistic similarities to other manuscripts like the Milli Kütüphane Rūmī Masnavī, suggesting a common artist or production circle (p. 249, fn 670). The illumination program of the 1372 Masnavī is similarly linked to earlier 13th and 14th-century examples from Konya (p. 268). The author mentions that although motifs like cornered medallions are found in Shiraz and Cairo, the specific idiosyncratic style of Sātī's manuscripts points towards local centers in eastern Rūm or potentially Damascus (p. 266, 268).
