The ink (as blue underglaze pencil or cobalt blue text) is applied to the surface of ceramic forms, specifically to the interior or exterior of 3D printed polygons (p. 301-302) or 3D tiles (p. 295). In the case of the 3D polygons on the 'poem wing' of the hand-built vase, the Arabic text is inscribed in cobalt blue (p. 301).

Remarks

The ink is used for calligraphy and poetic inscriptions. It is applied to various clay bodies including paper porcelain and terracotta. The application is often coordinated with laser-engraved or laser-cut grids as seen on page 295.
