Remarks

The blue color of the dome is the defining characteristic that led the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz mosque to be known locally as the 'Blue Mosque' (p. 16). The mosque structure was designed by Malaysian architect Datuk Baharuddin Abu Kassim, and the distinction of the mosque's design lies in details that reflect Malaysian culture and identity in traditional Islamic architecture (p. 16). The color serves both an aesthetic and a cultural role in the architectural decoration of the interior and exterior (p. 3).
