The ink was applied via lithographic presses at Benjamin Keasberry's Mission Press in Singapore. (p. 186). Keasberry acquired these skills from Rev. Walter Henry Medhurst in Batavia between 1830 and 1833, where he learned composing, printing, and lithography. (p. 186). The Mission Press utilized lithographic presses specifically for missionary purposes and for printing Jawi script, which was better suited to lithography than the typographic presses used for European commercial orders. (p. 187, 189).

Remarks

The journal was used as an instrument for converting Muslim Malays to Christianity and was printed between April 1858 and early 1860. (p. 181, 186). The lithographic process allowed for the reproduction of traditional Malay handwriting styles, which were influenced by master scribes like Abdullah bin Abdulkadir Munsyi and executed by the scribe Rajab.
