In addition to standard paper manuscripts (Kuraris), the text notes that technical drawings, curves (Munharifat), and astronomical sundials (Mazawil) were drafted onto stone substrates (p. 622). 'Kaddan' is a specific type of porous limestone used in Cairene architecture. These stone-based 'drawings' were often installed in prominent locations such as the Al-Azhar Mosque and the Imam al-Shafi'i mosque (p. 622).
