The paper identified in BmT MS 2234 (pp. 480-610) consists of both laid and wove varieties (p. 63). Some folios are specifically blue-colored. These were identified as British manufacture, bearing the brand 'C MILLINGTON LONDON 1870', associated with Charles S Millington (or Millington & Sons), a stationary manufacturer and exporter in London (p. 63). Other papers in the same unit feature a 'Britannia' watermark in an oval frame with the text 'E TOWGOOD | FINE', linked to Edward Towgood's Sawston paper mill which began operations in 1836 (p. 63).

"The manuscript unit MS 2234, pp 480–610, is written on several types of paper, laid and wove, some of which are blue-coloured. The watermark on this blue paper shows a lion and a shield and reads ‘C MILLINGTON LONDON 1870’."

Remarks

The production dates for British paper found in this corpus are generally placed between the beginning and second half of the 19th century (p. 67). The presence of 'Millington's paper' provides a terminus post quem of 1870 for the composite manuscript in question (p. 63).
