A unique dark blue (deep blue) tonality was obtained by combining azurite and ultramarine. This specific mixture was used to paint robes (p. 264).

Remarks

Although azurite is found in Herat manuscripts, the specific combination of azurite and ultramarine is unique to the Lahijan paintings analyzed in this study (p. 264).
