Silver pigment was applied to represent metallic objects such as swords, barding, quivers, and armour on folios AKM 64 and 92 (p. 152). Another method for creating a grey tonality in this manuscript involved a combination of indigo and white lead, found on folio 62 (p. 152).

Evidence

"silver pigments have also been used in many spots in this manuscript for colouring the armor, the barding, the quivers, the helmets, etc. (see section 5-2-5). But the silver pigment has lost its metallic luster over time and is now seen as a dark grey (Tab. 5-24)."

Remarks

The silver has undergone significant alteration, losing its characteristic luster to become dark grey (p. 152). This degradation is a common feature noted in the analysis of these metallic pigments across the Shahnama miniatures.
