Sometimes highlighted with a layer of yellow dye (saffron or turmeric) to create a darker 'dull yellow' (p. 117). In AKM 5, a red lead highlight layer was sometimes applied over orpiment to create an orangish yellow (p. 127).

Evidence

"the main material used for yellow colourrs in this manuscript was orpiment (Tab. 5-3)."

Remarks

Used for clothes, flags, and ground cloths (p. 117, 127). In AKM 4, it represented 67% of yellow samples (p. 123).
