The dyes were reconstructed following 'traditional orders for their construction extracted from historical texts' to compensate for the lack of existing reference samples for dyes used in Persian manuscripts. These reconstructed samples were then used to establish FORS and FOMF spectrums (p. 13).

Remarks

Because identifying organic dyes with non-destructive methods in manuscripts is difficult, the researcher reconstructed several historical dyes to serve as reference samples. This allows for more accurate diagnosis of unknown colorants using Fiber Optics Reflectance Spectroscopy (FORS) and Fiber Optics Molecular Fluorescence (FOMF) (p. 13).
