Pigments are applied to a white slip background. Vertical bands are filled with cobalt blue strokes of cross hatches, alternating with bands with clusters of black dots (p. 81). Medallions of cobalt blue contain four-fold leafs colored in turquoise (p. 81).

"Applying cobalt blue, turquoise and black pigments to a white slip background is typical of Sultanabad wares."

Remarks

The colors seem to be runny, which is attributed to the firing process (p. 81). Black or dark brown pigment is used specifically for outlining vertical bands (p. 81).
