Abu’l-Qasim, a vizier at the Ilkhanid court of Tabriz, wrote a treatise in 1300 AD that describes the recipe of the composition known as lajvard produced in Kashan (p. 79). The technique, known as lajvardina, involved using deep cobalt extracted from lapis lazuli in combination with lustre glazes (p. 79).

Used in both pottery vessels and tile revetment; lajvardina tiles were excavated at the Ilkhanid royal summer residence at Takhti Sulayman (p. 79).
