Applied via brush during rotation on a potter's wheel to create circular outlines and rims (p. 46). Set under an opaque glaze then covered with a transparent top layer.

Evidence

"The body features alternating black and red frames... The rim of the plate is coated in red outline, this along with the other circles may have been achieved while the brush with the pigment is placed on the vessel that is rotated on a potter’s wheel."

Remarks

Part of the polychrome decoration of AIA.0025.0000. Features as diagonal strokes on the exterior wall in groups of three alternating with black strokes (p. 46).
