The blue pigments were used in 'blue-and-white stonewares from Baihe' that echoed West Asian Islamic ceramic aesthetics (p. 585). Green pigments were used for 'green-painted wares' (p. 587) and earthenwares with 'painted and moulded decoration' (p. 585). These pigments were applied to ceramics produced in Chinese kilns specifically for export to the Islamic market (p. 585).

"Other ceramics found in the ship responded primarily to Islamic tastes: green earthenwares, some probably from Gongxian, with painted and moulded decoration, as well as incised motifs inspired by Islamic pottery; and three blue-and-white stonewares from Baihe in Gongyi county (Henan) echoing Islamic blue-and-white ceramics"

Remarks

The blue-and-white ceramics recovered from the Belitung wreck are described as having an 'unmistakably Chinese approach to the painted line' while mimicking Islamic tastes (p. 585). Footnote 17 explicitly refers to 'Chemical Fingerprinting' of these wares to determine their origin and composition.
