Remarks

The Qurʾan is traditionally said to have been united into its extant form during the reign of ʿUṯmān (23/644–35/656) (p. 30). The manuscript contains 1087 huge parchments measuring 57 x 57 cm, made of large pieces (p. 30). It was stored for centuries in the Imam Ḥusayn Mosque before being revealed in Cairo (p. 30). A last page, written in the Thuluth script, was added to the manuscript in the Mamluk period (p. 31).
