"Gold and blue are used extensively in both manuscripts, and in both cases, the gold has been applied first, with black used to mark out details and blue used to fill in the ground afterwards."

Remarks

Gold is used for the text of 'Allāh' throughout the Qur'an, as well as for verse markers (gold rosettes), hexagonal medallions for juz', and blue-bordered rectangles for half-juz' (p. 75). In the Masnavī, gold is used for the waqf note (p. 76) and for writing the prose prefaces in a script between tawqi' and naskh (p. 81).
