Remarks

Hs. 16 B 18 (Maʿrifetnāme) represents a high-status production from Erzurum, dated 1826. It contains extensive multicoloured illustrations and complex illumination. Gold is used extensively for backgrounds, borders, and decorations. Unique applications include white pigment for script over darker coloured backgrounds (p. 294).
