Remarks

Yellow represents a juxtaposition of positive and negative emotions. It serves as a metaphor for joy and heavenly beauty (associated with Layla) but also for 'prolonged absence' and drought, as seen in Quranic metaphors (p. 82, 92). In Jami’s Falnama (p. 83), Layla wears a bright yellow robe representing heavenly color. In the 'yellow pavilion' story of the Haft Paykar, it signifies the joy and beauty of an unattainable slave girl (p. 92).
