Professional itinerant groups of Kashmiri Muslim scribes wander the countryside of Punjab and Kashmir for commissions (p. 215). They are noted to carry their own inks and colours. For night work, they utilized quantities of oil for burning lamps to keep working through the night (p. 215). The copy quality depended on the materials they had and their individual skills (p. 215).
