The core manuscripts, including the monumental Mas̲navī of 1278 and the 1314-15 Qur'an, were closely examined to determine their physical properties (p. 57, 65, 66). Islamic bookbinding and its materials are noted for being more durable than previously thought (p. 59). (p. 59)
