Talhi Paper
Recipe Details
Ingredients
fresh water, fine, pure starch, saffron
Preparation Steps
Take a copper cauldron, pour ten rotls of fresh water into it, place it over the fire, and throw into it fine, pure starch. Boil it until the water decreases by the measure of two fingers or more. Then place in it a little saffron according to the desired intensity of color or clarity. Pour it into a wide basin and dip the paper into it with a light, non-stop dipping. Then hang it on a fine hemp thread in the shade. Beware of the sun hitting it, for it will spoil it. Check it every hour by turning it so it does not stick. When it dries, polish it on the bench with glass polishers.
