Take white fish glue for the bright [gold], break it into very small pieces. Pour water over it and soak it for a day until it softens. If it softens, gather it and rub it with your hand until it becomes soft. Place it in a vessel and pour fresh water over it and lift it over a gentle fire until it melts. If it melts, add to it a little ground saffron according to the shade of its color. Then filter it through a thin cloth and write with it whatever you wish. If it is cold, it will be in your presence like a fast-setting jelly. If you find it has hardened over the fire, it will melt. If you wish, take "Ibrizi" (pure) gold or red "Madrub" (minted) gold and beat it into thin sheets and cook it with that glue from its day, and do not delay it more than that. If a person offers you gold for soldering, then soak the fire and let the alum settle over it so the white does not change. If it is cooked, let it sit for two days and rub it with a "Hamam" stone then "Kuhl" it. Use it for polishing with the middle finger.
