Violet Liyya

Recipe Details

Ingredients

dyer's madder, water, saffron, myrtle water, pomegranate peel water, Arabic gum

Preparation Steps

Take ten dirhams of dyer's madder. Pour enough water over it to submerge it in a small pot. Boil it until it is exhausted and its water is refined. Take ten dirhams of saffron and put it in the water whole, as it is, then boil it until the feather is dyed. It will turn out as desired. Take myrtle water or pomegranate peel water—whichever is available—and pour it into it. Do not add too much, for it will turn black. Add as much as it can bear. Then add two dirhams of ground Arabic gum. Write with it.
