honey, mica (talaq), Cypriot vitriol, Arabic gum

Preparation Steps

Take two parts honey, one part mica (talaq), and one part good Cypriot vitriol. Grind everything with honey. Place it in a gourd and an alembic and put it over the fire until it is sublimed. Take what has been sublimed into a vessel and place it in the sun for twenty days. Every day, grind one dirham of Arabic gum into it and stir it vigorously until the gum dissolves. Then remove it after that and write with it whatever you wish in the color of gold.
