Take some very white, pure Gum Arabic, two *uqiyyahs*, and grind and sift it as well. Then pour a *ratl* of water over it and rub it with your hands until it dissolves. Then throw the gallnuts and vitriol into it and shake it until the whole is mixed. Look at its color; if it has turned to peacock-blue, it is good. Add water to it according to its thickness and store it in a glass bottle and write with it immediately.
