Take twenty *mithqals* of sour pomegranate peel—if it is fresh, it is better; otherwise, use dry. Take the same amount of yellow myrobalan and twenty *mithqals* of gallnuts. Take two *mithqals* of Isfahan vitriol and some myrtle juice. Combine all of that and place it in the sun for forty days, then clarify it and put it in three bottles. Then take yellow orpiment (*zarnikh*), ground, and put it in another bottle and shake it; this is yellow ink.
