Take gallnuts and pomegranate peel, crush them both and soak them in water for three days. Then pour a little vitriol over them and keep shaking it until you see it has become an intense black. If you cannot find pomegranate peel, use Roman vitriol instead; then add Gum Arabic to it and remove it from the fire; it is good, God willing.
