Crush gallnuts to the size of chickpeas or smaller, and place them in a pot. Pour ten times their volume of fresh water over them. Light a fire under it until it returns to half or one-third. Add vitriol as much as is sufficient and Gum Arabic as much as is needed, and write with it.
