Take gallnuts, crush them slightly to the size of chickpeas, then measure them and place them in a pot. Pour three parts of water for every one part over them. Light a fire under it until it returns to two parts. Clarify it and add half a part of green vitriol and Gum Arabic to it as much as is sufficient. For every part of water, add half a part of Gum Arabic and half a part of vitriol. Some cook it until the water returns to one-third or one-third remains.
