Preparation Steps
Take old, thin myrtle and work with it. For every *ratl* of it, take three *ratls* of water and four *uqiyyahs* of crushed gallnuts and myrtle juice. Then place it in the hot sun for seven days, then strain it and clarify it. For every *ratl* of that water, add half a *ratl* of Gum Arabic. Leave it for a day and a night until it dissolves, then add green vitriol to it as much as is sufficient. If you made it with Egyptian vitriol, it is better. Write with it, God willing.
