Preparation Steps
Take one part gallnuts and half a part *Qirz* (acacia pods). Pour six parts water over the whole, then cook it until one-sixth of the water remains. Then clarify it and let it cool. Take good vitriol (*zaj*) that has been soaked for two days and add to it an amount equal to one-sixth of the gallnuts, and one-sixth of Gum Arabic like the vitriol. Mix the whole, then boil it over a gentle fire until one-third of it remains, then let it cool and write with it.
