Preparation Steps
Take good Persian ink and Gum Arabic, one part of each. Pound them and knead them with clarified gallnut water. To do this, take ten large, crushed gallnuts and pour half a *ratl* (pound) of water over them. If you want to increase its duration, use gallnut water. Whenever the ink dries, moisten it with gallnut water and vitriol (*zaj*), for it will not be erased and will not leave the paper. If you want flies not to land on it, add a portion of bitter apple (*hanzal*) pulp to it.
