Preparation Steps
Take light Persian ink, which when broken shows no clay or soil. Soak it in water for a day and a night, then pour off that water and dry it. Soak Gum Arabic the weight of one dirham, and five dirhams of ink ground and kneaded with the Gum Arabic water. Mix it with burnt, sifted scrolls and fill the inkwell with it until it dries. Place silk fibers in it; it will produce a beautiful, lustrous ink from beginning to end, God willing.
