Take the soot of the papers and bring it near the fire and pour upon it a vessel so that its strength does not go away and its blackness goes, then take this burnt and grind it, and take the water of the beet from other than its sides and extract its water and put in it from the gum and salt the measure of the need, then boil it on the fire until it dissolves, and its foam is removed little by little and thrown away, and it is placed in a basin and the soot is entered upon it, then it is kneaded with comfort and it is started upon it with a hot fire. That is the chest of the day, then it is raised and used, for it comes out very well.
